Dr. Rosella Burks

INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT MISSIONARY UNIT PRESIDENT
1982-2016
Dr. Rosella Burks served as president of the International District Missionary Unit (IDMU) for over 34 years (1982-2016). She served under three supervisors’ leadership: Mother Mattie McGlolthen, Mother Emma Crouch, and Mother Willie Mae Rivers. Mother Burks was born on May 27, 1923, to the late Horace and Katie Davis.
She completed her elementary and secondary education in Duncan, Mississippi. To further her educational pursuits, she attended Forest Park College, the University of Missouri, and Brooks Bible College. Her fields of concentration included: Business Administration, Mathematics, and Music. She worked in the areas of business and accounting for over 60 years.
Dr. Burks was the second documented national president of the District Missionary Unit. She was appointed in
1982 at the recommendation of Supervisor R.V. McAdory, Mississippi Southern First Jurisdiction, (first documented District Missionary Unit leader).
Dr. Burks authored several books: Leadership Guidebook, Leading Women Embrace God’s Wisdom, and Newly Appointed District Missionary.
